PostSubject: Houses of Altos   Mon Apr 01, 2013 9:34 pm

For generations, lords have ruled the far and beautiful country of Altos in their own right, and within their own house of renown. The houses of this great land are distinguished by their unique sigils and sayings which shape the history and determine the future of their people.

House Magol

"Duty before Valiance"

Theme:
Spoiler:

Sigil: The Summer Sunflower.
Current Lord: Ser Patrobick Magol.
Keep: Falgarde.

Influence:
Lords of the highlands scattered across the southern isle, House Magol has stood for generations within the land of Esterrius, there they are seated in their mighty and formidable keep, Falgarde. From this seat of power, they have command over their many vassals across the riverlands of Hadlemark and the grasslands of Collseburg.

Religion/Traditions:
Devoted to the Goddess of dignity and shame, Maliereth, House Magol reveres the teachings of valour and chivalry, qualities the house is most renowned for. The period of summer is considered grand and very beautiful to most, and as such, celebrations and festivities are held throughout most of the season, this period is known as "Larfest". Death plays a large part within the culture of house Magol, and the burial and preservation of the deceased is considered a sacred task, whereas death without fire is viewed as an insult and desecration of the soul. In such regard, burning is often used as the common way to bid farewell to the dead, and give them a glorious and fiery end.

Known to be a mostly impoverished people, House Magol's wealth is not one of abundance or possession, but more so in spirit. They make up for their lack of currency with their hearts of virtue, and their practical sense of the world. Resources are never faulting within their lands, and they only trade what they have for exactly what they need, no more no less, as greed and desire are not common within the House. In the House, a man is not what he earns, but what he can physically and mentally achieve above others, the only exception to this rule is being of noble blood, and being given right and power above the lower caste from birth.

Social Structure/Caste:
The social structure of House Magol can be considered mundane to some, as it consists of three castes; the Upper, Noble caste, the Knight Caste, and the lower caste.

The Lower Caste of the House is just that, lower. They are allowed no higher rights then the last and are expected to fulfil their potential duties where their skills can be put to best use. They are the farmers, miners, lumberjacks and the fodder of the military.

The Noble Caste breeds many a pompous man or woman, as they are given rights and deeds over lands and title at birth. Their noble blood is their one prestige, and names are not difficult to extend if their influence is allocated to the right areas to reap further more self-importance. They are the only caste which has free access to education, land ownership and political opportunities.

Finally the Knight Caste is as revered as the Nobles, as they are a sacred order devoted to upholding the oath of the blessed lady, Maliereth. They say the greatest honour a man can achieve is within Knight-hood, and the greatest any that isn't a noble could at all. Knight-hood is achieved from great action on the battlefield, or grand capability if one is of higher blood-lines, in the end all Knights are equal within the order, and forsake any lands, titles and marriage in order to achieve the status of Knight. New-comers are taught many fundamentals of their religion through a small and strict educational system designed to encourage chivalry and sharpen the mind for scenarios of combat and courtesy alike.

Come warriors of Nexus

Theme:
Spoiler:

Sigil: The Szaratarius
Current Lord: Zychkan Dele'garias
Keep: Tallice zui Nexus

The "Supreme" House of Dele'garias is an outgrowth of the former House Szarabajka, with its core patriotism centered on glory, progress, rightful rule and a sense of accumulating worth and honour. It has a strict tiered social hierarchy arranged to favor those who contribute most: ie; slaves are considered more honourable than the nobility. Essentially a warrior society, members of the house are trained for combat and its laws are formed to reward the strong and encourage the weak to rise and improve.

Though his lordship, Zychkan Dele'garias, would encourage outside relations, the deep-rooted teachings of Szarabajka state that "only our own people can be trusted", creating a  general image that any non-dele'garias will stereotypically possess malicious intent and traits, particularly that of greed and gluttony.

Delegaria is located east of The Altos.

In Delegaria, single sandwich feeds entire village.

_Origins
As part of the 172nd expansion ring of the Taell'as United Hegemony [citation needed], nine settlements formed the foundations of Delegaria. This area was under the control of ruling Praetor Rute Dele'garias, who named the land after themself. When the collapse of the United Hegemony occurred, Delegaria joined the countless provinces to secede from the Taell'as Hierarchy and declare independence [citation needed], thus beginning the Great House of Delegarias. Eleven years later, Rute Delegarias was defeated in single combat by Khuzite Szarabajka, seizing control of Delegarias to himself. Khuzite Szarabajka lead Supreme House Szarabajka to a glorious future of culture, wealth and great increases in territory. House Szarabajka existed for one hundred years before, for an unknown reason, it was overthrown by two ambitious faggots, Bronkhus Stahl and Negminura Dias. Both had been planning a coup for a long time, but could not do it alone. As part of a pact, both promised to share power if the coup was successful. Under the watching eyes of Dele'garias, the two would-be lords passed Lordship of the house to the young Zychkan Dele'garias, the rightful heir to Rute Dele'garias' throne, leaving the fates of Stahl and Dias to the stars themselves, but they had other plans. To bring about the return of the Hierarchy, in positions above Lord of the House, as Diadochs.

_Spiritual Belief
To exist is to serve Creation, or Destruction, and to exist is to be a product of the aforementioned two. The wells of Creation and Destruction flow, to shape the world and its denizens. The Collector is a god that oversees the flows of both wells, and decides how much is spilled from which well. The Collector is also known as "Scath", a servant of the Absolute Black Dragon Scaravanth, and is often the entity all mortals pray to for favored futures, preferable to Scaravanth, who is unknowable and incomprehensible. It is Scath who decides fate, and it is Scath who is seen as the superior of of mortal kind, the decider and the weaver. In order to maintain its power, Scath devours the souls of the dead to keep the wells flowing, and most believe that sacrifice grants favor from Scath.

_The Szaratarius
Is the new sigil of Dele'garias, replacing the original of the Great Bear. The Szaratarius represents the ladder of the social hierarchy itself, and is based off a star constellation of the same name and was introduced by Bronkhus Stahl in 17AS (After Succession).

_Name of Dele'garias
The name of the land is Delegaria.
Description of anything belonging or affiliated to Dele'garia is Dele'garese.
An individual residing in Delegaria is known as a Dele'garian. The plural form is Dele'garias.
The name of the house is Delegarias, but is usually spelled Dele'garias out of respect or reverence. The origin of the apostrophe is unknown and there are no traces in the Dele'garese language. It just is. Fuck you, Sean.

_Hierarchy
The entire population of Delegaria is organized by a social ladder formed by hundreds of classes and tiers. Prestige and status is dictated by this social order, there by limiting opportunity to lower classes, prioritizing proven skilled individuals by preference, which is actually unlawful. Ripe with discrimination, many, many unfortunate persons are forgotten, buried by this 'just' pile. Furthermore, the populace is designated into either the Azaomublei Wing (pronounced assembly), or the Vyaoleincuz (pronounced violence) Wing. The former is responsible for building and maintaining the lands of Delegaria, and feeding her people. The latter is the sword that defends her honour and dignity. The Ovauersich (pronounced Overseer/s) is an exclusive body of administration. It in on itself is an enigma.

House Dele'garias is secretly pro-communist

House Fangria

"Accept grace without limits"

Theme:
Spoiler:

Sigil: Blue Scales.
Current Ruler: Lady Mirserra Fangria.
Keep: Ambryel Rock.

The priestly House Fangria is widely known for their kind patronage and generosity towards smaller houses in times of need, and has grown rapidly since its humble beginning as a small group of land-owning wise men. Their society is heavily structured around socialist principles that allow specialized unions and guilds to rise up and serve as the means of high-quality production for the entire house. House Fangria additionally endorses any well-serving sect by sending them university-educated priests for counsel and official prestige. The most notable of the guilds is the Union of Ols, which is employed by House Fangria to construct large stone buildings and sturdy fortifications, such as the construction of the impregnable walls and defenses of Ambryel Rock and various other Fangrian holds. While very defensive, House Fangria is known to avoid conflict with any other faction unless their survival as a free house is being threatened. House Fangria's priesthood is largely a scholarly practice and not so much of a divine one, and the ancient 'days of rest' are usually spent drinking or working regardless, though most Fangrians still find it in them to pray to Pelyrot, the God of Comforts, at least once a month.

House Yaggrohael

“Sanctuary is the Substratum of life”

Theme:
Spoiler:

Sigil: The Black Moon
Current Ruler: Rhulus Yaggrohael the Wise
Keep: Sortus Forgeria (The Moon Forge)

Acknowledgements:
The House Yaggrohael is widely acknowledged for their isolation and holds which dwell into substantial systems beneath the ground. A conjunction of complex tunnels and holds which, together, is Sortus Forgeria (meaning the Moon Forge). It has, as expected, evolved into the area utilising different Sun Stones to channel the moons rays to their advantage. This aids in crop growth, light distribution and has allowed it’s people to live warmly regardless of the temperatures, it appears to aid in the development of such commodities.

Pious Traditions:
The house has roots which links to an old religion of the moon, worshipping it and it’s creations alongside an animistic philosophy. Yaggretuus, meaning “Through the Moon”, is a henotheistic religion which involved the worship of Stepahnus, the God of independence. Also the evil god, Slanguus, which is responsible for all the misadventures and inconveniences of others, including our opponents, which makes worshipping this God, the religious taboo. Stepahnus, needs to be worshipped every day at the same time that the sun is highest in the sky, to repel it’s rays. This is the only traditions celebrated except for burial and holy baptism, which needs to be celebrated by the same Sage of Yaggretuus.
